Dr. Robert H. Watson and our dental team stress the importance of pairing regular professional teeth cleanings with proper dental hygiene at home. Our dental team and dentist are proud to provide education about dental hygiene in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Brush your teeth at least twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. Use a toothbrush with soft bristles and a head that is small enough to reach all areas of your mouth. Your toothbrush should be replaced at least every three to four months. Use a fluoride toothpaste, as this will provide you with extra protection against cavities. With your brush at a 45 degree angle where the teeth meet the gums, brush using small, circular movements. Brush all surfaces of your teeth, paying special attention to the front and back teeth. Brush your tongue from front to back.

Floss your teeth at least once every day. Use whatever type and flavor of floss you like. Gently work the floss between your teeth and toward the gums. Curve the floss around each tooth and slide it underneath the gum line. Move the floss up and down several times to scrape of plaque.
