Taking Care of Inflamed Gums

Posted .

If you have inflamed gums, you are probably in at least a little bit of pain. While there are many reasons why your gums are inflamed, there is a high chance the reason could be gum disease. This disease is a serious and dangerous dental issue. So, if you have inflamed gums, your best first step is to call Robert H. Watson Jr. DDS, PA and schedule an appointment with our dentist, Dr. Robert H. Watson.

Until your appointment, you can do a few things to take care of your inflamed gums. First, brush your teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush. As you brush, be gentle but thorough. A vigorous brushing routine can be causing the inflamed gums, and it’s best to tone it down a bit. Second, floss your teeth once a day. This can help you remove the food particles, plaque, and bacteria that are irritating your gums. Third, rinse daily. Rinsing with antibacterial mouthwash can further clean your mouth and kill the bacteria around your gums.
