If you want your baby to have the top-notch oral health you deserve, then our dentist, Dr. Robert H. Watson, is more than happy to help you. If you’re like many others, you’re probably not sure where to start. Fortunately, there are many things you can do to help your baby have strong and healthy teeth and gums. Those things are:

-Wash their gums after each feeding when they don’t have teeth yet (You can do this by using a clean, wet washcloth to wipe the gums.)

-Clean their little chompers when they grow into place (All you need to do is use a child-sized, soft-bristled toothbrush and child toothpaste that is safe to swallow. Use these tools to brush your baby’s teeth twice a day.)

-Bring your baby to our office around their first birthday (This can help your child become familiar with the dental office and it can allow our team to give you the tips you need.)

-Don’t let your child fall asleep with a bottle of milk (This is because if your child takes a bottle to bed, it can increase their chances of having baby bottle tooth decay.)

-Make oral hygiene fun (As you brush their little teeth, sing them a song or play a game. This can help them like oral hygiene now and in the future.)

-Don’t worry about flossing their teeth until our dental team recommends flossing (Most of the time babies don’t need to floss because the teeth aren’t tightly knit together yet. The brush bristles should be able to clean between the teeth when you brush.)
